FireFlies is committed group of individuals centered around the advertising and entertainment industries cycling for each other and the greater good. Every year approximately 200 FireFlies gather around different FireFlies events around Europe and North America with the goal to raise money to aid research in blood cancer.
For the first time in the FF history, a CX bike event version will be held in Chile and Argentina, in Patagonia which both countries share, to fight cancer from the the legendary Southernmost continent.
Wide open spaces. Strong winds (from all directions). Huge skies. You feel incredibly small. Bumpy. The roads are mostly gravel, often corrugated. The population of the region is tiny so most of your interaction is with the mountainous scenery, although the people are friendly and hospitable.
Patagonia is a sparsely populated wilderness with dramatic scenery, and the distances are large. It’s both a rewarding and challenging place to bike. We were looking for something reasonably tough where self-sufficiency is essential.
Expect all conditions – warm, cold, sun, wind, perfect days, storms. And that’s in summer.
Be prepared to hike as well as cycle on this adventure.
FOR THOSE WHO SUFFER WE RIDE.
Inspired by the courage it takes to fight cancer, The FireFlies is a celebration of life, love and friendship. Bicycles are involved, but so are tears, laughter, mountains, ice-creams, reggae music and uncommon amounts of joy.
Our commitment is to raise money to support life-saving research into the causes and treatment of leukaemia and blood cancers. We ride for those who cannot. We’d suffer anything for this cause – feeling how we do about it.
All FireFlies are created equal. Anyone can do it. Often the longer you take to get there, the more you give to someone else and the more you learn about yourself.
Fighting for every inch of road is like fighting for every moment of life. That’s why the ride needs to be tough. To date, The FireFlies Tour has raised over £1.9 million for those who truly suffer.
